Data Concepts is seeking a Scrum Master who will be responsible for the planning and scheduling duties for all sprint ceremonies.

The Scrum Master will develop sprint plans, monitor and report status, raising risks and mitigating team level risk.

The Scrum Master monitors the health of the team by managing the implementation improvements as suggested in team retrospectives and having feedback conversations with all team members on a regular basis. Is responsible for scheduling estimation and backlog grooming sessions to ensure the team starts each sprint with a story backlog that is ready to develop. Facilitates the daily scrum meeting. The Scrum Master will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes on the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively identifies impediments and appropriately resolves and escalates when appropriate
  • Manages the health of the team
  • Schedules sprint related meetings
  • Tracks the progress of stories throughout the Sprint and release
  • Negotiates scope changes with the Product Owner Team based on Sprint results
  • Is responsible for the evaluation and appropriate mitigation of team risks
  • Helps to motivate the team and keep them excited
  • Ensures team is fully functional and productive
  • Removes barriers, escalates issues
  • Enables close cooperation across all roles and functions
  • Utilizes team feedback and team metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc) to identify areas of opportunity and works with team to continuously improve
  • Ensures that the process is followed, including issuing invitations to daily scrums, sprint reviews, and sprint planning and sprint retrospective
  • Understands domain architecture and upstream/downstream dependencies
  • Updates the metrics dashboard

Required Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified Scrum Master with 2+ years of experience
  • Experience in performing the Scrum Master role for at least 2 years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles and practices
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Clear understanding of Agile concepts such as backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and velocity
